FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS BY RENTERS
Will you check my credit before I rent?
A $25 NON-REFUNDABLE fee for a credit check is required of EACH ADULT applicant. If two or more adults will occupy the rental property, each one is required a separate credit check. Children are excepted. If you have poor credit, don't apply... Firefly Housing ALWAYS runs a credit check... no exceptions.
Can I own a pet at my rental property?
Pets are allowed in most of out single homes although a couple of them do not allow pets. But no pets are allowed in our duplexes or apartments.
Are there any deposits required for me to move in?
First month's rent plus a security deposit equal to one month's rent are required before you move in.
Who pays utilities for my rental property?
When you move in, you must have all utilities put in your name and you are responsible for all monthly payments for utilities such as electricity, sewer and water, and gas, and of course, telephone or television cable or satellite.
What kind of lease will I sign to move in?
A one year lease is required for your first year. After the first year, all leases revert to month-to-month.
How much notice must I give to move out?
You are required to give Firefly Housing a 30-day notice before moving out. If you move out sooner, or if you move out any time during your first year lease, you will forfeit your security deposit.
What if I'm late on my rent?
Rent is due the 1st day of each month. However, a 5-day grace period is allowed without penalty. After the 6th day of the month, a $5 per day late fee is added to your rental payment.
Will I need rental insurance?
Renter's insurance is not required, but Firefly Housing is not responsible for damage to ANY of your personal property. Rental insurance is not very expensive and recommended to protect your property in case of unforeseen disasters.
